Flags at Meridian fire stations lowered to half-staff in honor of 19 fallen firefighters

The Meridian Fire Department plans to keep the flags at half-staff for 19 days to honor each of the firefighters who died in the Yarnell Fire in Central Arizona.

The 19 firefighters were part of the Prescott Fire Department’s elite Granite Mountain Hotshots. The name of those who lost their lives are:

  • Deford, Dustin, 24
  • MacKenzie, Christopher, 30
  • Marsh, Eric, 43
  • McKee, Grant, 21
  • Misner, Sean, 26
  • Norris, Scott, 28
  • Parker, Wade, 22
  • Percin, John, 24
  • Rose, Anthony, 23
  • Steed, Jesse, 36
  • Thurston, Joe, 32
  • Turbyfill, Travis, 27
  • Warneke, William,  25
  • Whitted, Clayton, 28
  • Woyjeck, Kevin, 21
  • Zuppiger, Garret, 27

All the flags will be lowered at noon Tuesday. The departments fire stations are at: 540 E. Franklin Road, 2401 N. Ten Mile Road, 3545 N. Locust Grove Road, 2515 S. Eagle Road, and 6001 N. Linder Road.
