Five Things You Should Do This Weekend

When you’re not fighting scalpers for tickets to that sold-out Carrie Underwood concert.

1. GET YOUR FREAKY EDM FIX
T
hink all DJs are alike? Uh, take a look at mask-wearing freakazoid DJ Bl3nd, who spins Saturday at the Revolution Center. Warning: You may go stark-raving mad after watching 30 seconds of this (profanity-laced) video. [Details]

2. JOIN THE FIRST ANNUAL CLUMSY FEST
Forget Canada. The Clumsy Lovers are a Boise group now. Time to welcome them to the family. The Celtic-edged bluegrass-rockers have invited lots of cool local bands to the first-ever, two-day Clumsy Fest tonight and Saturday at Hannah’s. [Details]

3. SAY HELLO TO FAT JOHN
OK, nobody outside Boise calls John Nemeth by his old moniker anymore. But he’ll still be Fat John to fans Saturday at the Egyptian Theatre, even if he is a big-time, award-nominated, Memphis-based soul and blues musician nowadays. [Details]

4. GAZE AT ART AND SIP A BREW
Now in its 8th year, Art in the Bar combines the laid-back atmosphere of Boise’s Knitting Factory with the creativity of emerging local artists. And it’s free. [Details]

5. SPREAD YOUR SEED
“What?” you cry. “Gardening crap in Five Things You Should Do This Weekend”? Deal. I love gardening, and this is my random blog. Besides, the Seedy Saturday Seed Swap at Wright Congregational UCC Church, 4821 W. Franklin Road, is gonna rock. You can share seeds, rap about NPK, swap compost jokes and — if I’m not too busy digging around my own garden in the 50-degree weather to attend — get a seed from one of my overwintered bhut jolokia plants. (Not that I’m confident they’ll germinate, anyway.) [Details]
