Five Things You Should Do This Weekend in Boise

When you aren’t busting at gut at Saturday night’s finals of the “Boise’s Funniest Person” competition …

1. SEE SOME OUTDOOR MUSIC
All right, stop! Collaborate and listen … It’s a big weekend for outdoor music. Vanilla Ice and Carly Rae Jepsen highlight Saturday’s Boise Music Festival. Old-timey and roots music are the focus of the Hermit Music Festival in Kuna. Jazz singer Curtis Stigers will perform tonight at HIllcrest Country Club. And up in the mountains, Idaho-Down will rock Brundage Resort.

2. AIM FOR THE STARS
It’s an interplanetary party Saturday night at Boise Art Museum. “Mars and Stars” celebrates Mars and space travel with food, drinks, spacey music, arcade games, a no-host bar and lots more, including the cool exhibit “Mars Revisited.” [Tickets]

3. OPEN YOUR MIND
The Albertsons Boise Open is in full swing all weekend. When you aren’t there, follow the action with video, tweets and photos right here.

4. COUNTRY UP
Yes, country-rap should be put out to pasture. But there’s no denying the popularity of Jason Aldean, who has been selling out stadiums on his way to Taco Bell Arena on Sunday night. Nice earrings, cowboy. [Tickets]

5. HIT A CLUB SHOW
At Neurolux on Saturday night, Delta blues freakazoid Bob Log III will bounce willing women on his knees. Or stretch out the weekend with San Francisco act The Soft White Sixties, who will headline the ‘Lux on Sunday. [Tickets]
