Five Things You Should Do This Weekend in Boise

When you aren’t jumping on killer beer deals at Treasure Valley breweries …

1. ROCK OUT AT A LOCAL BAND REUNION SHOW
It’s the weekend of local reunion stories. Popular ’80s Boise band Methods of Dance is reuniting tonight at Visual Arts Collective. Idaho country icon Pinto Bennett will lead the 10th annual Famous Motel Cowboys Reunion tonight through Sunday at Hannah’s. And hard rockers Fly2Void will celebrate their first album in 11 years at the Knitting Factory tonight.

2. HIT A BASEBALL GAME
Is it hot? Yes, it’s hot. But so are the Boise Hawks. They’re riding a six-game winning streak after spanking the Everett Aquasox last night. The Hawks welcome Everett to Memorial Stadium for the next four nights. [Tickets]

3. GET FOLKED UP
Portland indie-folk band Blitzen Trapper — a big hit at the debut Treefort Music Fest in 2012 — will bring gorgeous harmonies to Neurolux tonight.

4. SEE SOME MORE COMEDY
I’m going to keep banging you over the head with this until it ends in a week — because it’s a cool, inexpensive event. “Boise’s Funniest Person” competition continues Saturday at Liquid Laughs. The 10 semi-finalists, freshly mentored by some of Boise’s top comics, will be narrowed to five. Then they’ll compete for $1,000 July 27.

Warning: profanity (hey, it’s comedy!) …

5. FEED YOUR SOUL
Award-winning blues and soul singer John Nemeth packs a wallop in concert. The former Boisean will unleash his inner beast Sunday at the Nampa Civic Center in a benefit show for the Pix Theatre.
