Five Things You Should Do This Weekend in Boise

When you aren’t inhaling lavendar all weekend (no, you won’t catch a buzz, dude) …

1. CHECK OUT THE NEON-COLORED BLUR
Do you hear the sound of 1,000 clickers urging on super-fit cyclists? You will. The Twilight Criterium zips through Downtown Boise on Saturday night.

2. PARTY IN EAGLE
Cool off in downtown Eagle today and Saturday at Eagle Fun Days. The event has changed in the past year or two; there’s no carnival anymore. But you’ll still find tons of vendors, live music, fireworks, and, of course, the “Wet & Wild Parade” at 2 p.m. tomorrow. [More]

3. GET REVVED UP
Expo Idaho will be filled with all sorts of auto-related fun Saturday and Sunday at the annual Les Schwab Tires Motorfest: a show ‘n’ shine, burnout competition, V8-powered chain saws — even a Miss Motorfest competition. (Gentlemen, start your engines.)

4. SEE SOME COMEDY
“Boise’s Funniest Person” competition continues Saturday at Liquid Laughs. Semi-finalists will be named and will get paired with comedy mentors in preparation for the finals later this month. I wrote about opening-night in my Scene column today. Check out burgeoning funnyman Brandon Baxter below. (Warning: PG-13.)

5. GET SOME SONIC CANDY
You ready for some “bow-wow-wow” that doesn’t involve Snoop Dogg’s upcoming concert? Relive ’80s new wave with Bow Wow Wow — which still has its original singer, Annabella Lwin, and bassist, Leigh Gorman. The group performs Saturday night at The Venue in Caldwell. [Tickets]
