Five Things You Should Do This Weekend in Boise

Besides buying Santa a gift from a local brewery …

1. GET YOUR SPORTS FIX
The Idaho Vandals shoot hoops with the Idaho State Bengals tonight at CenturyLink Arena. [Tickets] Buffalo hits the blue turf against San Diego State in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl on Saturday. [Tickets] And the Idaho Steelheads swat the puck against Bakersfield on Saturday and Sunday. [Tickets]

2. HIT A FARMERS MARKET
Need to pick up some last-minute holiday gifts? As Kenny Loggins and Michael McDonald like to declare, this is it: After a busy summer and fall, Downtown Boise’s Capital City Public Market and Boise Farmers Market will end their seasons Saturday.

3. ROCK OUT AT REEF
Downtown Boise’s second-floor music mecca has a busy weekend planned: Piano-playing party starter Andy Frasco headlines Reef on Friday night ($7), while anxiety-stomping EDM force Phutureprimitive takes over the room Saturday ($7/$10).

4. CHECK OUT A NEW RIDE
Wahooz and Pinz, 1385 Blue Marlin Lane, Meridian, is debuting a new “XD Dark Ride” today. The “7D movie experience” features “eight full motion seats, 2G acceleration, and the newest in interactive laser technology” — and was awarded the Best New Product of 2013 by the International Association of Amusements and Attractions.

5. BE A MAD BREW SCIENTIST
Maybe you missed the memo last week in Scene magazine: Tablerock Brewpub has a new head brewer, Derek Anderson, and the dude is not afraid to get crazy blending his beers. Saturday at Tablerock is gonna be fun. [More] (P.S. Congrats on the new baby girl this week, Derek!)
