Watch monster trucks smash cars while you crush beer cans against your skull. (OK, plastic beer cups.) Monster Jam happens tonight and three times Saturday at the Idaho Center with first-time appearances from several of these ear-splitting behemoths.  [Details]

4. HIT A FILM FESTIVAL
The Wild & Scenic Film Festival has been luring activist-minded folks to Northern California for more than a decade. Once the annual party ends, the movies hit the road. The Egyptian Theatre will host 13 films — including a couple about Idaho — on Saturday night. [Details]

5. JAZZ UP YOUR WEEKEND
The Frim Fram 4 are practically legendary in Boise, where the group has recreated the classic Nat King Cole Trio sound for years. They’ll host a “Dancing and Martinis” party at the Linen Building on Saturday to celebrate the release of their new CD, “I’m a Shy Guy.” With powerful vocalist Emily Braden dropping by for a song or three, how can you resist?
