Eagle High’s Jeffries selected as Gatorade Idaho female track athlete of year

Allison Jeffries of Eagle High was named the 2012-13 Gatorade Idaho Girls Track & Field Athlete of the Year on Wednesday.

The 5-foot-8 senior hurdler won the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.12 seconds and the pole vault with a clearance of 12 feet, leading the Mustangs to the 5A state championship as a team. Jeffries also ran the opening leg on Eagle’s winning 4×100-meter relay, which set an overall state record with a time of 48.14. Jeffries established a 5A District Three meet record by clearing 13 feet in the pole vault.

“Allison Jeffries had an amazing year,” Timberline coach Rob Hindberg said in a press release. “She always has a smile on her face until the gun goes off, then she becomes as fierce a competitor the state of Idaho has seen.”

Jeffries has signed a letter of intent to compete in track and field beginning this fall at Boise State.
