Crying tears of beer: Brewforia in Eagle to close

1018+Food+Review+06 Time to drown your sorrows, beer geeks: Brewforia in Eagle will have its final day of business March 1.

Numbers were not adding up for the retail beer store, pub and restaurant at 78 Eagle River St.

“It’s something we’ve been fighting for a while now,” owner Rick Boyd says, “but the extreme inconsistency in traffic and the mounting monthly losses really left us no choice.”

This isn’t just a blow to brewski aficonados, who browsed the beer market’s massive selection of bottled choices, or just filled growlers. Burger fans are hating life right now, too. In an October restaurant review, the Statesman wrote that the restaurant part of Brewforia — called Grind Modern Burger — served “the best burger in the Valley. By like a mile.”

Boyd hopes to relocate Grind to a new space later this year. Brewforia’s Meridian location at 3030 E. Overland Road remains open.
