UPDATED: Changes at The Bouquet bar in Boise — again

Update: Singer-songwriter Matt Hopper — who once did a stint booking bands for The Bouquet — says he and his band, The Roman Candles, will perform at a reopening of the club on Saturday. No idea if they’ve dropped the “Ice” from the name again. But I am. The show, an album-release gig, will be videotaped and recorded, Hopper says. More on Hopper in my Scene column Friday.

Looks like the “Ice” might have melted at The Bouquet.

Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days at Downtown Boise’s favorite “what the hell is going on there” bar. The seemingly never-ending soap opera at 1010 Main St. has a new twist.

A cardboard, handwritten “closed” sign is on the door. (That photo is from this morning.) A tipster who peered through the window earlier this week says that bottles and glasses were being packed up.

Re-branded as The Ice Bouquet several months ago, the venue has been plagued by drama in recent years. It makes sense to assume it will open again, but when? At this point, maybe the better question is “why.” The space certainly has potential — I have always liked the room — but it can’t seem to establish dependable continuity. Local band Soul Patch posted this on its Facebook page Thursday:

That’s all the information I have. For all I know, “new management,” assuming it’s accurate, simply means that the building owner is running the show again. (That would be my hunch.) If anyone has more details, feel free to comment or send me an email.
