The folks at Clear Lake held a derby on Feb. 16 that was a little different than most. Since it’s catch and release fishing at the lake, weighing or measuring fish would be tough without harming them. Instead, they tagged a bunch of fish and made those tags worth prizes. Unfortunately, no one caught them during the derby. But there’s a bright side. The derby continues. Go to Clear Lakes and pay your $10 to fish, and if you catch a tagged fish you get the prize. Prizes include $100 cash, and that tag happens to be attached to an 8-pound rainbow, so you get a double trophy. Other tags are good for a weekend at Cactus Pete’s, gift certificates, and a year’s fishing pass to the lake. Pretty cool, and another reason to go fishing there.
Clear Lake derby continues
