City of Nampa asks homeowners to trim low-hanging branches on trees near streets

Nampa city ordinance requires a 14-foot vertical clearance over streets, so branches don’t interfere with traffic.

City officials are asking homeowners and HOAs to prune trees that have low-hanging branches. Branches that are too low do not allow street sweeping equipment to get close enough to clean gutters.

You need a permit to prune trees in city rights-of-way, but the permit is free.

The city forester will consult with homeowners and HOA officials, offer evening pruning classes and other tree-related education.  Call 468-5748 to obtain a permit or to schedule an appointment with the city forester.
