Busy day on the river

riverDespite bad roads, temperatures around 15 degrees and 15 mph winds, boat ramps on the Snake River were busy with duck hunters.

It was hard to believe when we woke up to the snow and wind, that there would be a fairly decent crowd on the river hunting.

We were in the Walters Ferry area and a couple of boat ramps had at least 6 to 7 rigs.

We did see several flocks of geese and ducks, but generally it was still slow on the lower part of the Snake River. Lake Lowell still had open water and that draws ducks away from the river.

With a few more days like this, the lake should be frozen over and that will push more birds to the river.

Good hunting, but remember safety on the river.
