Alex Wells was recently hired as the varsity boys coach, replacing Tom Seifert, who retired at the end of the 2013-14 season.
Wells returns to Idaho after serving as an assistant coach at Marshalltown Community College (Iowa) last season.
He has previously coached at Troy and Filer high schools and Walla Walla Community College. Wells was an assistant under his brother, Guy Wells, when Troy won a 1A state championship in 2005.
He also helped Filer make two consecutive state tournament appearances as a head coach in 2009 and 2010.
“I’m really excited for the challenge. I am looking forward to it,” Wells said. “I think there’s a lot of positives about the job at Eagle. I met with the kids today for the first time and it seemed like they were really eager to get to work.”
Seifert coached the Mustangs for nine seasons, compiling an overall record of 142-88 with five state tournament appearances, two district championships and a state runner-up finish.
