The 6-foot-2, 170-pound junior point guard led the Lions to a 25-1 record and their second straight 5A state championship this past season. Wright averaged 16.2 points, 6.9 assists, 5.2 rebounds and 3.3 steals per game. The 5A Southern Idaho Conference’s player of the year also scored 21 points in a 47-44 win over Rocky Mountain in the state championship game earlier this month.
“Isaiah Wright is extremely talented but what’s more important is that he makes his teammates better and is always composed and selfless,” Borah High coach Cary Cada said in a press release. “He plays with integrity and class. He is an incredibly fine young man of great character.”
Wright is now a finalist for the Gatorade National Boys Basketball Player of the Year award, which will be announced later this month.
