Darnell Taylor, a guard at Saddleback (Calif.) Junior College, will not join the Boise State men’s basketball team this upcoming season, according to his father, Charlie.
Taylor signed his National Letter of Intent with the Broncos in November, but within the last week, the guard and Boise State made a “mutual” decision to part ways, Charlie Taylor said on Wednesday.
Last season as a sophomore, Taylor averaged 11.3 points per game. Taylor’s father said they were cleared to begin speaking with other schools on Tuesday, and said a handful of Division I schools are interested.
Boise State’s incoming class of newcomers is now at three, with freshmen Dezmyn Trent (Tacoma, Wash.) and Nick Duncan (Australian Institute of Sport) and North Idaho College wing James Webb III set to join the team this summer. The Broncos lost only one senior from the 2012-13 NCAA Tournament squad in Kenny Buckner, and will be two scholarships over the limit, meaning at least two players will leave the program this offseason.
