FRESNO STATE CRACKS TOP 25

The Fresno State football team jumped into the USA Today Coaches’ Poll on Sunday at No. 25.

Boise State (2-1 overall, 1-0 Mountain West) plays at Fresno State (2-0, 0-0) at 7 p.m. MDT Friday (ESPN).

Fresno State will be the Broncos’ first ranked opponent since Michigan State in the 2012 season opener. Coach Chris Petersen is 8-5 against ranked teams but has lost three of the past five.

Fresno State is 27th in The Associated Press Top 25 voting.

The Broncos received four points in the AP voting and five points in the USA Today Coaches’ Poll voting. Washington is No. 17 in AP and No. 20 in USA Today.

BOISE STATE OFFERS DISCOUNTED TICKETS

Boise State announced Sunday that it will sell some discounted tickets for the upcoming home games against Southern Miss (Sept. 28), Wyoming (Nov. 16) and New Mexico (Nov. 30).

The discounted tickets go on sale at 9 a.m. Monday at the ticket office (426-4737) and broncosports.com/tickets.

Tickets in the north end zone will be $10, down from $40. Tickets in parts of sections 101, 111 and 130 will be $25. Sections 101 and 130 are the ends of the curves in the south end and tickets there were $58. Section 111 is a priority-seating section at the north end of the west grandstands. Tickets there were $65.

The Nevada game, which has higher ticket prices, is not included in the discount program.

Boise State drew 33,293 fans for the home opener against UT Martin, a game that was included in the same pricing plan as the games with the new discounts.

The school drew 36,069 — nearly a sellout — for last week’s game against Air Force, the other game in the same price category as Nevada.

DEPTH CHART TWEAKS

Boise State has released its depth chart for this week’s game. There are a few small changes:

— Redshirt freshman Ben Weaver is the co-starter at weak-side linebacker. He has been sharing time with Tyler Gray and leads the team in tackles, but he previously was listed as the backup.

— Redshirt freshman Sam McCaskill has moved from stud to end. He and junior Beau Martin at Demarcus Lawrence’s backups. True freshmen Kamalei Correa and Gabe Perez are Kharyee Marshall’s backups at stud.

— True freshman cornerback Jonathan Moxey has bene added as a co-backup at cornerback.
