The Boise State football team will open the season at No. 19 in The Associated Press Top 25, which released its preseason poll Saturday morning.

The Broncos also are No. 19 in the USA Today Coaches’ Poll, which was released earlier this month.

Boise State was No. 24 in AP going into last season and finished No. 18. This is the fifth straight year the Broncos have made the preseason poll. Previous rankings include 14 in 2009, 3 in 2010, 5 in 2011 and 24 in 2012.

Boise State’s opponents are well represented in the others receiving votes list. Fresno State is second among non-BCS teams at No. 32. Washington is No. 34. Utah State is No. 37. And BYU is No. 43, the last team with a point.

Here is today’s story on the Boise State tailbacks.

Here are my blogs previewing the tailbacks and quarterbacks. I’ll post wide receivers later today.

And here is the latest on Washington tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins.

I am on the AP voting panel again this year. Here is my preseason ballot. As I’ve said in the past, this is not a prediction of where I think teams will finish. All I did was take my season-ending ballot and adjust a bit based on conference preseason polls. For the most part I kept the same teams in there. The exception was teams that were in there last year but have not been ranked traditionally and lost their coach. I put Boise State where I did because the Broncos have finished in the Top 20 five straight years — they’ve earned the benefit of the doubt. I’ll tear it up after the first week.
