Defensive tackle Greg Gaines of La Habra (Calif.) High committed to the Boise State football team Saturday. He’s the fourth commit in the 2014 recruiting class.

Gaines (6-foot-1, 290 pounds) also had offers from Colorado and Nevada. He visited Boise State for the Spring Game two weeks ago.

“I’ve been thinking about it for a while,” he said of committing. “I was thinking about doing it last weekend. I thought I’d wait a little longer and I decided it was the place for me.”

Gaines has an aunt and uncle who live in Coeur d’Alene, so he’s no stranger to Idaho.

“Everything seems like the right fit for me,” he said. “I can go hunting and fishing — everything I want to do.”

Gaines has played three years of varsity football already. He plays tailback and fullback in addition to his duties on the defensive line, like Mike Atkinson did in high school.

Here’s the updated 2014 class:

— DB Khalil Oliver, 6-1, 185, Rocky Mountain HS
— QB Jalen Greene, 6-3, 194, Serra HS (Los Angeles)
— CB Brandon Lewis, 5-11, 180, Pleasant Grove HS (Elk Grove, Calif.)
— DL Greg Gaines, 6-1, 290, La Habra (Calif.) HS
