Boise State basketball drawing (very) early attention for 2013-14 season

Though the Boise State men’s basketball team won’t be hitting the floor until a foreign trip (likely Australia) in August, the Broncos are getting some national recognition on this, the day after the NCAA championship game.

In a “way-too-early” top 25 by CBS’ Jeff Goodman and Gary Parrish (here), they rank Boise State is their No. 24 team going into the 2013-14 campaign. On that list, the Broncos are the only Mountain West team.

Not to be outdone in the early rankings, The Big Lead has Boise State as its No. 25 team (here), and again the only Mountain West team listed. Here is what the site said: “All five starters are back. Here’s a random call someone will throw in my face next March – the Broncos will be a 10-seed in March and win their first game.”

On ESPN’s “very early top 25,” (here) Boise State is not ranked, but is listed as one of 15 other teams to watch.

Boise State basketball has never been ranked in the AP or USA Today coaches’ top 25. The Broncos return their top six scorers, including the starting five it used in a majority of the 32 games last season.

If you fast-forward to the 36:30 mark, you can see the segment on Boise State’s Anthony Drmic and Iggy Hadziomerovic with appearances by assistant John Rillie and head coach Leon Rice.
