Boise ponds were stocked – cast a line

pondBoise’s ponds were stocked by Idaho Fish and Game just before the holiday weekend and if you’re not doing anything else today, you might take a cast.

The ponds were stocked with pan-size rainbows and they sure taste good. My wife and I had a couple of trout for dinner last night and they were delicious. Of course, they were rolled in seasoned flour and simmered in the frying pan with butter.

Back to fishing. Just because some ponds are recently stocked doesn’t mean that it’s like shooting fish in a barrel. I talked to a few anglers who said the fish were put down by the recent rainy weather. Highly stocked ponds can still be finicky even though they have hundreds of trout swimming around.

A fly angler stripping in a nymph at Williams Pond in Boise wasn’t having much luck. I managed to catch a few on a small spinner. There was a family catching a few on PowerBait.

Late in the day you could see some trout rising but not much. The freshly stocked trout should settle down and really start biting any day now.

Good fishing.
