Boise Mayor calls for student applications to serve on boards, commissions

Mayor Dave Bieter has opened the application period for the annual Students on Boards and Commissions program.

Boise teens interested in serving on city boards and commissions during the 2014-15 school year must submit their applications by 5 p.m. Friday, May 9.

The Students on Boards and Commissions program gives high-school students the opportunity to help make important decisions for the community by serving on one of the city’s many boards and commissions. Student board appointments will run from September 2014 through May 2015. All positions are voluntary and unpaid, and are open to any high-school applicants residing within Boise city limits.

Boards and commissions with student placement opportunities are Airport, Arts & History, Design Review, Development Impact Fee Advisory, Historic Preservation, Housing Authority, Library, Mayor’s Council on Children and Youth, Parks & Recreation, and Planning and Zoning.
