Boise High grad selected for national playwrighting program

Boise’s Cal Sheridan, 18, is one of nine young American playwrights selected for the VSA Playwright Discovery Program at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C.

Sheridan performed and wrote plays at Boise High School before graduating this past spring. He also participated in Dwayne Blackaller’s Theater Lab at Boise Contemporary Theater. In that after school program young theater artists write, produce and perform a play in a few weeks.

At the Discovery Program, Sheridan will workshop his play “Cal Sheridan: Not Suffering” with the help of several professional theater artists Aug. 31-Sept. 1 in Washington D.C.

VSA is a national organization that supports artists with and without disabilities who examine the disability experience. The Playwright Discovery Program focuses on script writing.
