Boise High basketball standout chooses Seattle Pacific

Boise High’s Sam Simpson, the reigning 5A Southern Idaho Conference Player of the Year, recently committed to play men’s basketball for Seattle Pacific starting this fall.

The 6-foot-8 senior forward averaged a league-leading 18.5 points and 10.8 rebounds during the regular season.  He also had scholarship offers from the College of Idaho, Montana State Billings and Westmont College, he said. Simpson was invited to walk-on at Boise State and Air Force.

“I went up there and visited in the fall and liked Seattle. I have family there,” Simpson said. “It is a very good Division II school and I want to go into medicine, and they are strong when it comes to medicine and academics.”

Seattle Pacific competes in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference, which includes Northwest Nazarene in Nampa. The Falcons won the 2014 GNAC regular-season and tournament titles before losing to Cal State Stanislaus in the first round of the NCAA Division II Tournament.
