Bighorn tags go to hunters with big checkbooks

Rich Landers at the Spokesman Review reports the recent auction of 40 bighorn sheep tags from Western states raised $3.2 million, and Idaho’s tag sold for $150,000. That money will help sheep management, but it’s still a bitter pill to know the best tags go to the guys who can write the biggest checks. How big? A Montana tag sold for a record $480,000.
