Beeping Easter Egg Hunt will be Friday at Garfield Elementary in Boise

The annual Beeping Easter Egg Hunt for visually-impaired youth in the Treasure Valley will begin at 12:30 p.m. Friday at Garfield Elementary in Boise.

Easter egg hunt

In 2008, Emilia Lane, 5, adds beeping eggs to an Easter basket donated to her class by the Quest Pioneers. The class of 3-5-year-olds hunted for candy filled eggs by first finding a larger egg that sends our a constant beeping noise.

The hunt is organized by CenturyLink’s Idaho Pioneers Chapter. The group brings specially-designed eggs that emit distinctive beeping sounds.

The technology was originally developed in 1964 by Charlie Fairbanks, a telephone engineer, and later modified for Easter eggs.
