Ballet Idaho’s 2014-15 season offers a new variety

Ballet Idaho will put a stronger focus this season on developing new work by highlighting its studio series “New Dance” as part of the regular season package. The two “New Dance” concerts will be smaller, intimate affairs held at the Esther Simplot Academy performance space at 501 S. 8th St. in Boise.

Dates: Nov. 14-15, 21-22

“The Nutcracker,” the company’s confectionery holiday tradition, continues with five performances this year.
Dates: Dec. 19-21 at the Morrison Center.

“Mosaic” will feature Balanchine’s “Rubies,” one of his signature masterpieces, with the return of Anastos’ comical ballet “Pirates!” and a new ballet from dancer-choreographer Daniel Ojeda.
Dates: Feb. 14-15, 2015 at the Morrison Center.

The second edition of “New Dance”
Dates: March 6-7, 13-14 at Esther Simplot Academy, 501 S. 8th St., Boise.

“A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” Anastos’ full-length romantic ballet based on Shakespeare’s comedy, with music by Mendelssohn.
Dates: April 10-11.

Season tickets: $160.96 to $215.04 for five shows, including “The Nutcracker;” $120.72 to $161.28 for four shows, does not include “The Nutcracker.” To purchase season tickets, call 343-0556, ext. 22.
