Back country horsemen clear trails at Kennally Creek near Cascade

The pictures really show what motivated volunteers can do to save a trail. The Back Country Horsemen of Idaho’s Emmett chapter took on this project, and four volunteers cleared this trail. “This is what trail crews are seeing this year, some trails have up to 100 down trees per mile,” said horseman Rob Adams.

With shrinking federal budgets for trails, work done by volunteers is critical for maintaining them, and the Idaho Back Country Horsemen have a long history of volunteer trail work. They will be back in September to do more work on the trail. For more information about the group, go HERE.
