The city of Eagle and the Eagle Arts Commission have created a new public art opportunity for artists this spring. The inaugural Eagle Sculpture Invitational will showcase temporary outdoor sculpture from June 6 to October in parks and public spaces throughout the city. Artists with public art experience can submit up to six existing works created in the past three years or propose a new work. Eight total will be selected. Those artists will receive a $500 stipend for the loan of the artwork, insurance, installation and de-installation.
Artists in Oregon, Washington, Utah and other states can apply. There are cash awards, including a $5,000 people’s-choice purchase prize for one piece that will go into the City’s permanent collection, and a $1,000 Best of Show prize.
Sculptures can be representational or abstract, functional or nonfunctional, stationary or kinetic; they must be able to withstand the elements and be safe for public interaction. Artworks may be offered for sale. Please note that 20 percent of the price will be donated to the Eagle Arts Commission.
There is no fee to enter. The deadline for submission is April 18. If you have questions, email firstname.lastname@example.org, or call arts commission head Meg Glasgow at 888-9898.
