Tackle Tom’s in Cascade is reporting a fish large enough to be the new state record perch was caught in Lake Cascade. Tia Wiese of Eagle landed a perch that weighs 2 pounds 11.68 ounces. Her fish measured 15.75 inches with a girth of 12.75 inches. Idaho Fish and Game must certify the record before it’s official.

Luke Spaete of Boise broke the old state record perch on Feb. 15 with a 2 pound, 11 ounce perch. Before Speate’s fish, the old record had stood for 38 years, but was tied once. Coincidentally, Gary Wiese, Tia’s father, also broke the old state record a day after Spaete, but his fish was smaller than Spaete’s.
