The small reservoir, east of Boise off Idaho 21, is a favorite for pre-season training and for teaching beginners to canoe or kayak. There is some current in the reservoir so watch the eddy lines and don’t get too far downstream or you’ll have a good workout getting back to the park. Buoys block boaters from going upstream toward the dam.
Discovery State Park at the upper end of the reservoir is a good launching place and for a picnic.
There’s a $5 entry fee for vehicles.
