Animal rights activists upset about treatment of pigs plan protest outside Boise Walmart

Activists with the group Mercy for Animals are planning a high-profile protest in front of the Walmart at 8300 W. Overland Road in Boise Friday. It will be from 11 a.m. to noon.

The group is protesting pork suppliers’ treatment of pigs — specifically, “the cruel practice of confining pregnant pigs in tiny crates on factory farms where they are unable to even lie down comfortably, turn around, or engage in basic natural behaviors,” according to a press release.

Here’s a photo of the giant inflatable pig they plan to set up near the Walmart.
