Good news Garden City travelers, 36th Street is now open to traffic after nearly five months of construction.
The $550,000 project, which began in May, rebuilt East 36th Street between Chinden Boulevard and the Waterfront District, added curb, gutter, sidewalks and parking pockets to accommodate on-street parking. The project also included decorative street lighting and landscaping, courtesy of Garden City. Power lines were also installed underground with the project.
ACHD and Garden City officials hold a dedication event 10 a.m. Wednesday at the north end of East 36th Street.
36th Street is in the heart of Garden City’s Live-Work-Create District, an area planned for mixed use where residents will have the opportunity to work and live in the same location.
