Bryan Smith, the Idaho Falls Republican who’s making a run at eight-term incumbent Mike Simpson’s right flank this primary season, announced Wednesday that a Political Action Committee for Young Americans for Liberty is supporting him.
The group joins Club for Growth, The Madison Project, FreedomWorks, Citizens United and the National Association of Gun Rights in endorsing Smith.
It’s unclear how much money, if any, the PAC gave Smith’s campaign.
“I have no idea but we are very happy to have their endorsement,” campaign manager Carrie Brown said in an email.
In 2013, Smith raised $539,036, more than any other Republican challenger to Simpson since he took office. Simpson raised $1.29 million last year.

Idaho Falls, ID – Today, the Young Americans for Liberty Action Fund PAC, a pro-liberty organization, endorsed conservative Republican Bryan Smith in the primary for Idaho’s second congressional district against eight-term incumbent Mike Simpson.
“I am thankful to receive the endorsement from the Young Americans for Liberty Action Fund PAC. It is a group that is dedicated to fighting to protect our freedoms and liberties from an overreaching federal government,” said Bryan Smith.
“The many national endorsements from conservative organizations and local Idaho elected officials are signs of the growing momentum of the Bryan Smith for Congress campaign. They are a sign that Bryan Smith is the true conservative in the race for Idaho’s second congressional district against liberal Congressman Mike Simpson,” said Carrie Brown, campaign manager.
