Kids in West Boise will have a new playground to enjoy later this fall at Comba Park, 2995 W. Five Mile.
The playground’s non-traditional play equipment is suitable for spinning, bouncing and climbing, according to the city of Boise. Designed for ages 2-12, the playground will feature a spinning net climber and 9-foot climbing boxes. The city is paying for the $117,000 project.
Comba Park is a 3.2-acre partially developed site located near the intersection of Ustick and Five Mile.
The park’s community garden and a parking lot were completed in July 2012. Nearby residents planted gardens with help from the Boise Urban Garden School. The community garden was funded, in part, by a Neighborhood Reinvestment Grant awarded to the West Valley Neighborhood Association. A Boy Scout built two shade structures and picnic benches.
The Comba family donated the property to the City of Boise in 2000. The city’s master plan envisions a new, larger community garden, open grassy play areas, a splash pad and shade structure, and a community center.
